Elizabeth Passey and Mayara Francosi shortlisted for Retail Jeweller Rising Stars 30 under 30

Congratulations to Elizabeth Passey, Operational Gemmologist at the Birmingham Assay Office and Mayara Francosi, Analytical Chemist at the Birmingham Assay Office, who are both finalists in the Retail Jeweller Rising Stars 30 under 30, in association with WOLF.

Elizabeth has been the face of our Gem Lab for many documentaries and television programmes which have been filmed at the Birmingham Assay Office and has delivered specialist gem training to staff of some of the biggest High Street Jewellers, she has also taken part in a programme with local schools where she was interviewed by the school children about working in the industry. She is a key member of the team who has suggested and implemented many internal improvement processes during her time at the office.
Since starting in 2016 as an Apprentice on level 3 Lab Scientist Programme, Mayara has shown a flair for R&D , and is an integral part of a small laboratory team.  She is looked up to by her colleagues for her calm attitude and excellent work ethic. In the 3rd year of her degree, Mayara completed a business improvement project. This project looked at improving the efficiency of our in-house AnchorCert Protect method and has led to an improvement in accuracy of the method whilst reducing the processing time and costs. She has also participated in a gold allergy project, the outcomes of this project were presented at the 15th Congress of the European Society of Contact Dermatitis.

It's a fantastic achievement to be selected among the most talented and ambitious young professionals within the jewellery industry and on Wednesday 22nd March, they attended a networking breakfast with the 30 finalists.
